P.S. Waverley

Launched on the 2nd of October 1946 at the A. & J. Inglis Ltd. yard in Glasgow and powered by a 2100 ihp triple expansion steam engine built by Rankin & Blackmoore Ltd, Greenock. She is currently the last sea-going paddle steamer, running excursions all through the summer month from various ports around the UK.

Forth Road Bridge 2011

Building started in 1958 and the bridge was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in September 1964. Measuring 2512m with a central main span of 1006m, the two towers rise to 156m and support the two suspension cables, each cable is made up of 11,618 5mm steel wires packed to form a 60cm wide bundle which are anchored into rock at each side.
